FORMULA 1 is back at Circuit of the Americas this October, and with special performances by GRAMMY winners Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, it’s a race weekend that will be well-attended by F1 fans (me) and non-fans (my wife Lexi) alike.

In general, whether booking or staying, Lexi and I value professionalism and convenience when it comes to our travel accommodations. This is the essence of the fine hotel brands we trust, however when we’re getting away with family and friends, we don’t book hotel rooms. We book vacation homes. And we’ve done just that with a group of our close friends for this fun event.

As far as overnight accommodations go, we had plenty of options to choose from in Austin. Aside from pretty much every hotel brand under the sun, Austin is the birthplace of HomeAway, which has over 1,500 whole home vacation rentals in the city. Alternatively, there’s apartment-share platform Airbnb, which lists hundreds of spare bedrooms (and blow up mattresses) in the area. Lots of options, but we chose D: None of the above.

Yes, I may be biased for choosing to book with my own company, Vaystays, but I really meant what I said above. I don’t have the time or patience for getting canceled on last-minute from an Airbnb host (which has happened to me twice now), or private messaging back and forth with a homeowner before booking on HomeAway, then checking into a filthy home they manage remotely from over a thousand miles away (which nearly ruined a family vacation in Florida).

Call me old-fashioned, but if the hot water isn’t working in the shower, I want someone to pick up the phone when I call, and then I want them to come fix it. When searching for a place, I just want to pick dates and book, like every single hotel brand. I don’t want last minute cancelations, or unacceptable conditions. Oh, and I don’t need to “get to know the host” — after all, I don’t need to read about the CEO of the Starwood before booking one of their hotel rooms!

All of this is moot with Vaystays, where 100% of the listings are verified, locally managed by a professional property manager, and instantly bookable. Crisis averted, before it even starts.

So whether you‘re headed to Austin for the revving of the turbocharged V6 engines, the overflowing beers & finger-licking BBQ, a bachelor/bachelorette party, or you’re going simply for the abundance of live music at festivals like Austin City Limits, I have but one recommendation: stay professional and book with Vaystays.
